9.8" Giant, Polished Lapis Lazuli Sphere - Pakistan
This is a gargantuan, 9.8" wide, polished lapis lazuli sphere with streaks of sparkling pyrite running through it. The vibrant blue stone was mined from Northern Pakistan. The quality of the polish work on this sphere is excellent, but being that it's hand-polished, its not perfectly round.

About Lapis Lazuli
Lapis lazuli stands apart from most gemstones because it is not a single mineral, but a richly patterned metamorphic rock composed of several minerals. Its iconic deep blue hue comes primarily from lazurite, which must make up at least 25% of the material for it to be classified as true lapis. Golden specks of pyrite often appear scattered throughout the stone, creating a striking contrast that enhances its beauty and has made lapis a prized gem for thousands of years.
