About Aerinite

Aerinite is a rare and visually distinctive silicate mineral prized for its rich purple-blue to sky-blue coloration. It is found almost exclusively in northeastern Spain, particularly in and around the Pyrenees Mountains, making it a mineral with both geographic and cultural uniqueness. Mineralogically, aerinite forms as compact, fibrous to felted masses rather than well-developed crystals.

The name aerinite is derived from the Greek word aerinos, meaning “sky-blue,” a reference to the soft yet vivid blue tones that define the mineral and made it especially desirable long before modern synthetic pigments existed.
