11.5" Calcite Cluster with Marcasite Crystals and Phantoms - Iowa

Ex Keith A. Peregrine collection specimen

This is an absolutely stunning, museum-quality calcite crystal cluster that's peppered with sharp sparkling marcasite crystals. If that's not amazing enough, most of the calcite crystals contain one or more marcasite phantoms and exhibit areas of iridescence from deep within. It measures in at 11.5" long by 10" wide and weighs just under 19 1/2 lbs. A truly incredible and fascinating find!

Comes with a metal display stand to assist with presentation.

The Linwood Mine has been in operation since 1944: to this day, it ranks as one of the largest limestone mining locations in the United States. On relatively rare occasions, a vug containing minerals will be opened in the mining process, which are then extracted and saved. These vugs often contain beautiful crystal aggregations of calcite, barite, and marcasite, some of which are considered world-class quality specimens.
