1.8" Polished Pyrite Pocket Stones

These are polished pyrite pocket stones. The photos are representative of the specimen(s) you will receive. Because these are natural, hand polished stones, there will be some variation in size from specimen to specimen. They range anywhere between 1.6" to 2", with most around 1.8" wide.

The stone is polished into an oval shape and rounded on all sides. Polished stones of this size and shape are generally referred to as pocket stones since they will easily fit into a pocket. The pictures are representative of the stone you will receive, but there will be some variation in colors and patterning.

The mineral pyrite, also known as iron pyrite, is commonly referred to as Fool's Gold because its metallic luster and pale brass-yellow hue give it a superficial resemblance to gold. In the old mining days, pyrite was sometimes mistaken for gold.

It is the most common of the sulfide minerals with the chemical formula FeS2. Pyrite crystals occur in many shapes and habits, including cubes of all sizes, penetration twin cubes, pyritohedral clusters and as small druzy crystals that can exhibit a beautiful glistening effect.
