Polished, Golden Sheen Obsidian Worry Stones - 1.5" Size
These are small polished golden sheen obsidian worry stones. They average 1.5" wide, but are hand polished so some maybe slightly larger or smaller. While pure obsidian is jet black, golden sheen obsidian appears to have a golden or silver sheen to it that changes in appearance as the stone is viewed from different angles. This interesting stone is mined from the La Revoltosa Mine near San Andreas, Jalisco, Mexico.

Worry stones are smooth, polished stones, usually in the shape of an oval, with a thumb-sized indentation. They are often used by people for relaxation or anxiety relief purposes, the same way as some people use a fidget spinner. Typically, worry stones are 1 1/2 to 2" across. They may also be referred to as palm stones, thumb stones, fidget stones, etc.
Obsidian is a natural, volcanic "glass" that is formed when molten rock cools so quickly that the atoms don't have enough time to arrange themselves into crystals. To form obsidian, the composition of the lava must be high in silica. While pure obsidian is jet black, other impurities can give it interesting colorations and properties.
The golden sheen in golden sheen obsidian is due to tiny gas bubbles trapped in the glass. These tiny bubbles have been stretched nearly flat along the flow layers in obsidian. These tiny gas bubbles cause light to reflect in such a way as to produce the appearance of a golden or silver sheen in the obsidian.
