1.6" New, Undescribed Cheirurid Trilobite - Fezouata Formation
This is a new, undescribed trilobite from the Fezouata Formation that appears to be some type of Cheirurid. It is only the second example of the species I have seen. It measures 1.6" in length and has been prepared to bring it out in high relief against the rock. It does have some soft-bodied preservation which adds to intrigue. The left antennae is clearly preserved, the right is much more faint, but much of it does appear to be there, and you can see parts of a gut trace visible.
It comes with an acrylic display stand.

About Trilobites
Trilobites were a very diverse group of extinct marine arthropods. They first appeared in the fossil record in the Early Cambrian (521 million years ago) and went extinct during the Permian mass extinction (250 million years ago). They were one of the most successful of the early animals on our planet: over 25,000 species have been described, filling nearly every evolutionary niche. Due in large part to their hard exoskeletons (shells), they left an excellent fossil record.
