1.65" Spiny Koneprusia Trilobite - Foum Zguid, Morocco

This is an exceptionally spiny 1.65" long Koneprusia dahmani trilobite from near Foum Zguid, Morocco. Preparing specimens of this species is a true test of skill—each of the long, delicate spines must be meticulously freed from the limestone under high magnification. A trilobite of this quality typically represents around 30 hours of precision air-abrasive work. All spines on this specimen are natural, with only about 3% total restoration. An impressive and beautifully prepared example of one of Morocco’s most sought-after spiny trilobites.

About Trilobites

Trilobites are an extinct class of marine arthropods that thrived for nearly 270 million years, from the early Cambrian to the end of the Permian period (around 521 to 252 million years ago). They are one of the most successful and diverse groups in the history of life, with over 25,000 described species spanning a wide range of sizes, shapes, and ecological niches. Known for their distinctive, segmented exoskeletons, trilobites provide invaluable insights into the evolutionary history of arthropods and the dynamics of ancient marine ecosystems.
