1" Fallotaspid (Daguinaspis) Trilobite - Tazemmourt, Morocco

This is a 1" long fallotaspid trilobite, Daguinaspis ambrogii, from the Upper Amouslek Formation of Morocco. It is preserved on a 4.8 x 4.4" piece of shale and includes both the positive fossil and its matching negative impression.

Daguinaspis ambrogii is an Early Cambrian trilobite from Morocco’s Anti-Atlas region and belongs to the fallotaspidids, among the earliest groups of trilobites to appear in the fossil record. This genus is notable for its simple, primitive morphology and is part of the important Daguinaspis trilobite assemblage used in studying and correlating Early Cambrian deposits in Morocco. Specimens like this provide a fascinating look at some of the first trilobites to inhabit ancient Cambrian seas.
