2.6" Spiny, Multi-Toned Psychopyge Trilobite - Ofaten, Morocco
This is an interesting, 2.6" long, spiny Psychopyge trilobite from Ofaten, Morocco. The specimen has a natural, multi-toned shell coloration and lots of tiny, free-standing spines. The preparation is excellent and it has no restoration. This one appears very similar to Psychopyge hammerorum.
About Trilobites
Trilobites were a very diverse group of extinct marine arthropods. They first appeared in the fossil record in the Early Cambrian (521 million years ago) and went extinct during the Permian mass extinction (250 million years ago). Due in large part to their hard exoskeletons (shells), they left an excellent fossil record.
