Bargain, 2.7" Bug-Eyed Coltraneia Trilobite Fossil - Ofaten, Morocco
This is a detailed, 2.7" long, Coltraneia trilobite with amazing "tower eyes" full of hundreds of eye facets. The genus has often been referred to as Treveropyge in the past. It was quarried at Ofaten Mountain, Morocco.
This specimen is laid out prone but has some missing section of of shell on the thorax and an area of restoration on it's tail, hence the bargain price.

About Trilobites
Trilobites were a very diverse group of extinct marine arthropods. They first appeared in the fossil record in the Early Cambrian (521 million years ago) and went extinct during the Permian mass extinction (250 million years ago). Due in large part to their hard exoskeletons (shells), they left an excellent fossil record.
