2.9" Carboniferous Fossil Fern (Pecopteris) - France

This is a fossil fern (Pecopteris cyathea) from the Late Carboniferous-aged Montceau-les-Mines Lagerstatte of France. This formation is Stephanian Stage in age, or approximately 300 million years old. The fern measures 2.9" long and is nicely centered on a rectangular-cut, 3.7 x 2.9" slab of rock.
