3.3" Fossil Insect (Crane Fly and Snout Beetle) Plate - Utah

This is a 3.3" wide piece of shale featuring a beautifully detailed crane fly (order Diptera - family Tipulidae) fossil and weevil (snout beetle - order Coleoptera - family Curculionidae) fossil. The crane fly is quite large, measuring 1.1" long including its folded back wings. The specimen was collected from the Green River Formation of Utah. While the Green River Formation is best know for its fish fossils, other areas produce incredible fossil plant and insect fauna.

It comes with an acrylic display stand.
