3.9" Rare Treveropyge Trilobite - Exceptional Specimen

This is an exceptional 3.9" long example of the rare trilobite Treveropyge maura, collected near Issoumour, Morocco. This is a species we have only been able to offer a handful of times over the past decade, making quality specimens particularly difficult to acquire.

At 3.9" long, this individual is especially large for the species. The preservation is outstanding, and the meticulous preparation beautifully exposes the trilobite in three dimensions while retaining the fine details of the shell and anatomy. It is an impressive example of a seldom-seen Moroccan trilobite and would make an excellent addition to an advanced collection.

There is only about 3% shell restoration, primarily along repaired cracks.

About Trilobites

Trilobites were a very diverse group of extinct marine arthropods. They first appeared in the fossil record in the Early Cambrian (521 million years ago) and went extinct during the Permian mass extinction (250 million years ago). They were one of the most successful of the early animals on our planet: over 25,000 species have been described, filling nearly every evolutionary niche. Due in large part to their hard exoskeletons (shells), they left an excellent fossil record.
