4.3" Carboniferous Fossil Fern (Odontopteris) - France

This is a fossil fern (Odontopteris subcrenulata) from the Late Carboniferous-aged Montceau-les-Mines Lagerstatte of France. This formation is Stephanian Stage in age, or approximately 300 million years old. The fern measures 4.3" long and is nicely centered on a rectangular-cut, 4.4 x 3.3" slab of rock.
