4.9" Fossil Sycamore (Platanus) Leaf - Green River Formation, Utah

This is a well preserved 4.9" fossil Sycamore (Platanus) leaf from the Green River Formation, Utah. This wonderful specimen shows the primary veins and stem, as well as insect damage. The large area of damage is likely the feeding evidence of a Leaf-Cutter Bee (Megachilidae), while the smaller damage areas are likely caused by feeding larva of unknown identification.

While this formation is best known for well preserved fossil fish found in Wyoming, other sections of the formation contain a very diverse insect fauna.

Comes with an acrylic stand.
