.4" Cretaceous Fossil Crocodilian Tooth - Hell Creek Formation

This is a .4" long, crocodilian tooth from the Hell Creek Formation in Bowman County, North Dakota. There are a number of genres of crocodiles and alligatoroids described from this formation with very similar teeth. This specific tooth is believed to be from Borealosuchus sternbergii, a species that has been previously allocated within Leidyosuchus. Much like many other classifications, this assignment is in a constant state of flux.

The tooth itself shows great preservation, with nice enamel and wear only at the root.
