5.6" Fossil Leaves, Crane Fly, and Fly Plate - Utah
This is an amazing, 5.6" wide piece of shale that contains two fossil leaves (Mimosites coloradensis & Cedrelospermum nervosum), crane flies (family Tipulidae, and a fly (order Diptera). The specimen was collected from the Green River Formation of Uintah County, Utah. While this formation is best known for well preserved fossil fish found in Wyoming, other sections of the formation contain a very diverse flora and insect fauna.
