5.9" Fossil Leaf (Cedrelospermum & Rhus) Plate - Utah
This is a 5.9" wide slab of shale containing two fossil leaves. The largest is a sumac leaf of the species Rhus nigricans, with the smaller leaf being Cedrelospermum nervosum; a species of plant classified within the Ulmaceae family, which includes modern trees like elm and hackberry. This specimen was collected from the Green River Formation in Utah.
While the Green River Formation is best known for its fish fossils from Wyoming, other areas produce incredible plant fossils.
