7.6" Fossil Seed Fern (Neuropteris) Pos/Neg - Germany

This is a 7.6" fern fossil (Neuropteris sp.) association from a Carboniferous coal shale in piesberg, Germany. There are quite a few fern fossils packed into this specimen that are well preserved. Under magnification the detail of this specimen stands out. Both the positive (convex) and negative (concave) sides of the fossil nodule are included.

Neuropteris is an extinct genus of seed fern that reproduced from seed as opposed to sporophyte reproduction of most modern ferns.
