.87" Ghostly Fossil Spider (Araneae) - Cereste, France

This is a .87" long (including visible legs) spider (order Araneae) fossil collected from an Oligocene-aged shale deposit near Cereste in Southern France. The preservation is extremely faint and has been covered in a sealant to bring out as much detail as possible.

It comes with an acrylic display stand.

This is part of an old collection that we recently acquired. The collection includes a variety of insect fossils from around Southern France, collected over a span of 50 years by a woman with PhDs in paleontology and pharmacology.
