Serrated, 1.12" Allosaurus Tooth - Top Quality!
This is an absolutely killer, 1.12" long Allosaurus tooth. It has extremely nice enamel preservation, fine serrations, almost no feeding wear and no restoration. Very few teeth come out of the Morrison Formation this nice.
It was collected at a private quarry, east of Dinosaur, Colorado.
This tooth comes from what is being called the "Salt & Pepper Layer" in the quarry. A meter and a half thick sandy layer which probably represents a river channel deposit. It mostly contains isolated teeth and tumbled bone fragments. The quarry is also the location of the recently announce "Elvis" Torvosaurus find.
