Three Flies (Chironomidae, Sciaridae & Empididae) in Baltic Amber
These are three detailed, 44 million year old fossil flies (order Diptera) preserved in Baltic amber. These flies are from three separate families; Chironomidae, Sciaridae and Empididae. The length of the largest fly is about 3mm.
As a reminder, most inclusions in Baltic amber are extremely small so magnification will be needed to make out much detail. Included with your order is a physical photo of the specimen, and we will also email you a high resolution digital copy.
