About Chevron Amethyst

Chevron amethyst is a naturally banded variety of amethyst characterized by striking V-shaped or zigzag patterns formed by alternating layers of purple amethyst and white quartz. These distinctive chevrons develop as quartz crystals grow in pulses under changing geological conditions, recording subtle variations in chemistry and temperature during formation. Amethyst itself is the purple variety of quartz, colored by trace amounts of iron and natural irradiation during crystal growth, and has been prized for centuries as both a gemstone and a collector mineral.
