About Fluorite Encrusted Quartz From Huanggang

This striking new purple fluorite–encrusted quartz specimen from the Huanggang mining district (Hexigten Banner, Inner Mongolia, China) comes from one of the world’s most celebrated mineral localities. The mines are renowned for producing exceptional fluorite, quartz, and complex multi-mineral associations that are highly prized by collectors. This specimen features sharp, “candle-like” quartz points draped in a vivid violet coating of fluorite microcrystals. The surface has a frosted, sugar-sparkle texture that shifts from lilac to saturated grape tones as light moves across the crystal faces. Pieces of this material have been appearing on the market since late 2025, admired for the dramatic contrast between the bright quartz structure and the velvety purple fluorite overgrowth.
