This is a fossil leaf of Distylium eocenica, an extinct species of plant classified within the Hamamelidaceae family, which includes modern shrubs like witch hazel, collected from the Green River Formation of Utah. It measures 1.05" long and is located alongside a beautifully detailed crane fly (family Tipulidae) fossil. The plate itself measures 2.5 x 2.3".
