2.5" Impressive, Spiny Psychopyge Trilobite - Morocco
This is an exquisite 2.5" long specimen of Psychopyge elegans from Issoumour, Morocco. Exceptionally fine preparation has revealed dozens of delicate, free-standing spines in remarkable three-dimensional detail. The eyes also preserve beautiful orange-colored individual facets, adding to the specimen's visual appeal.
Restoration is exceptionally minimal, limited to just three small axial spines. With its outstanding preparation, intricate spines, and excellent preservation, this is a particularly desirable example of this spectacular Devonian trilobite. It comes with a removable wooden display base for an elegant presentation.

About Trilobites
Trilobites were a very diverse group of extinct marine arthropods. They first appeared in the fossil record in the Early Cambrian (521 million years ago) and went extinct during the Permian mass extinction (250 million years ago). They were one of the most successful of the early animals on our planet: over 25,000 species have been described, filling nearly every evolutionary niche. Due in large part to their hard exoskeletons (shells), they left an excellent fossil record.
