2.8" Eocene Fossil Leaf (Styrax) - Green River Formation, Utah

This is a 2.8" long (including stem) fossil leaf of the species Styrax transversa; a species of subtropical shrub similar in appearance to laurel shrubs but not closely related. It is Eocene in age and comes from the Green River Formation in Uintah County, Utah. This is the same formation that is famous for producing well preserved fish fossils, but a different member and location.
