4.8" Insect Mortality Plate - Green River Formation, Utah

This is a 4.8" wide mortality plate featuring several dozen detailed crane flies (family Tipulidae), a fly (order Diptera), and a well-preserved beetle (order Coleoptera), collected from the Green River Formation of Utah. While the Green River Formation is best know for its fish fossils, other areas produce incredible plant fossils and insect fauna.

The opposite side of the rock contains a mimosite leaf fossil. Comes with an acrylic stand.
