5" Prone Phacopid (Drotops) Trilobite On Large Limestone
This is an large, 5" long example of Drotops megalomanicus from Issoumour, Morocco. Preserved in a perfectly prone position, the specimen exhibits outstanding three-dimensional relief and a bold, sculptural presence on the matrix.
The compound eyes are especially impressive, retaining crisp preservation of numerous individual facets. Combined with the strong shell definition and substantial size, this is a visually striking example of one of Morocco’s most iconic Devonian trilobites.
It has only about 1% shell restoration along a repaired crack and is presented on a large section of dark limestone.
