.85" Pseudocryphaeus (Cryphina) Trilobite - Lghaft, Morocco

This is an elegant, .85" long specimen of Pseudocryphaeus minimus, a scarce and distinctive trilobite from the Devonian of Morocco. Preserved in a beautifully prone position, this diminutive member of the order Phacopida displays exquisite anatomical detail, including its characteristic elongated rostrum projecting from the front of the head.

The specimen exhibits outstanding preservation and meticulous preparation, with the surrounding limestone artistically sculpted to create a striking, natural display. Total shell restoration is approximately 1–2%. An excellent collector-grade example of this uncommon species.

About Trilobites

Trilobites were a very diverse group of extinct marine arthropods. They first appeared in the fossil record in the Early Cambrian (521 million years ago) and went extinct during the Permian mass extinction (250 million years ago). They were one of the most successful of the early animals on our planet: over 25,000 species have been described, filling nearly every evolutionary niche. Due in large part to their hard exoskeletons (shells), they left an excellent fossil record.
