This is a fascinating fossil fern (subcrenulata) frond plate from the Late Carboniferous-aged Montceau-les-Mines Lagerstatte of France. This formation is Stephanian Stage in age, or approximately 300 million years old. The ferns are beautifully laid out on a 9 x 2.85" slab of rock. A truly breathtaking and detailed fossil fern plate!
