Devonian Crinoid Plate With Partial Drotops - Issoumour, Morocco

This is a 13 x 11.7" section of limestone with three crinoids of three different species, as well as a partial Drotops armatus trilobite. You don't see very many Devonian crinoids available from Morocco. The smallest crinoid appears to be Cupressocrinites, but we don't have an ID on the other two.

A metal display stand will accompany your purchase.

Crinoids, sometimes commonly referred to as sea lilies, are animals, not plants. They are echinoderms related to starfish, sea urchins, and brittle stars. Many crinoid traits are like other members of their phylum; such traits include tube feet, radial symmetry, a water vascular system, and appendages in multiples of five (pentameral). They first appeared in the Ordovician (488 million years ago) and some species are still alive today.
