Fossil Leaves with Crane Fly - Green River Formation, Utah
This is a fossil mimosite (Mimosites coloradensis) leaf and an unidentified monocot leaf collected from the Green River Formation of Utah. The mimosite leaf measures .75" long and is located alongside a beautifully detailed crane fly (family Tipulidae) fossil. The plate itself measures 4.1 x 3.9".
While the Green River Formation is best know for its fish fossils, other areas produce incredible plant and insect fossils.
