Two Curled Austerops Trilobite Fossils - Ofaten, Morocco

This is a spectacular pair of beautifully preserved Austerops trilobites from Ofaten, Morocco. The larger specimen would measure approximately 2.3" long if fully outstretched, and together they create a striking, three-dimensional display.

Both trilobites exhibit exceptional shell preservation, intricate surface detail, and remarkably crisp, individually defined eye facets. The exquisite preparation beautifully exposes their delicate anatomy and natural curvature, highlighting the extraordinary preservation of these Devonian fossils.

An impressive collector-grade association with only approximately 3% restoration on the larger trilobite.

About Trilobites

Trilobites were a very diverse group of extinct marine arthropods. They first appeared in the fossil record in the Early Cambrian (521 million years ago) and went extinct during the Permian mass extinction (250 million years ago). They were one of the most successful of the early animals on our planet: over 25,000 species have been described, filling nearly every evolutionary niche. Due in large part to their hard exoskeletons (shells), they left an excellent fossil record.
