Two Multi-Toned Austerops Trilobite Fossils - Ofaten, Morocco
This is a spectacular pair of exceptionally preserved, enrolled Austerops trilobites from Ofaten, Morocco. Both specimens would measure approximately 1.8" long if fully outstretched, and their beautifully curled forms create a striking, three-dimensional display.
The preservation is extraordinary, with intricately detailed exoskeletons and remarkably crisp, individually defined eye facets in both specimens. The masterful preparation beautifully exposes their delicate anatomy, intricate shell ornamentation, and natural curvature, creating an impressive display of these ancient marine arthropods.
An outstanding collector-grade association with less than 1% restoration along repaired cracks.

About Trilobites
Trilobites were a very diverse group of extinct marine arthropods. They first appeared in the fossil record in the Early Cambrian (521 million years ago) and went extinct during the Permian mass extinction (250 million years ago). They were one of the most successful of the early animals on our planet: over 25,000 species have been described, filling nearly every evolutionary niche. Due in large part to their hard exoskeletons (shells), they left an excellent fossil record.
