GARNIERITE FOR SALE

Garnierite is a green, nickel-rich silicate mineral that serves as an important ore of nickel. It’s not a single mineral species but a general term for a group of nickel-bearing phyllosilicates—typically variants of serpentine, talc, or chlorite—formed through the weathering of ultramafic rocks like peridotite. Its distinctive green color, ranging from pale to deep emerald, is due to its nickel content. Garnierite typically occurs in veins, coatings, or massive aggregates with a soft, waxy to earthy luster.

First identified in New Caledonia and named after French geologist Jules Garnier, garnierite is still mined there, as well as in Indonesia, the Philippines, and Madagascar. While primarily valued for its nickel content, its attractive appearance also makes it popular for lapidary use. Found in lateritic nickel deposits, garnierite forms in the weathered zones of nickel-rich rocks, making it both geologically and economically significant.
