.7" Blue Botryoidal Shattuckite on Fibrous Malachite - Namibia
This is a small but gorgeous, .7" wide aggregation of fibrous green malachite with light blue botryoidal shattuckite aesthetically perched on top. It was collected in the Kunene Region of Namibia from a site that goes by many names: the local Herero language name is "Okandawasi", also known under the erroneous name "Kaokoveld mine", and "Otjikotu" is a name used for Kandesei by American dealers.
It has been mounted to an acrylic display base with mineral tack.

Shattuckite is a scarce copper mineral highly regarded for its vivid blue color. It is named after the Shattuck Mine in Bisbee, Arizona, where this mineral was first discovered. It crystallizes in the orthorhombic–dipyramidal crystal system and usually occurs in a granular massive form or as fibrous acicular crystals.
