3.2" Fossil Insect (Flies and Ant) Plate - Utah
This is a 3.2" wide piece of shale featuring two detailed fly (order Diptera) fossils and an ant (family Formicidae) fossil. There is another insect present which could be a beetle or another ant. The specimen was collected from the Green River Formation of Utah. While the Green River Formation is best know for its fish fossils, other areas produce incredible fossil plant and insect fauna.
