3" Fossil Leaf (Gymnocladus) & Ant Association - Green River Formation

This is a fossil leaf (Gymnocladus hesperia) and ant (family Formicidae) association one a 3" wide piece of shale. The leaf has dark preservation which contrasts nicely against the light colored shale. It comes the Green River Formation in Uintah County, Utah. This is the same formation that is famous for producing well preserved fish fossils, but a different member and location which produces a wide variety of fossil flora and insect fauna.

It comes with an acrylic display stand.
