2" Spiny Zlichovaspis Trilobite - Lghaft, Morocco

This is an exceptional, 2" long specimen of Zlichovaspis spinifera collected near Lghaft, Morocco, showcasing extraordinary anatomical detail and meticulous preparation. Both eyes exhibit remarkably crisp preservation of the individual eye facets, while an abundance of delicate, tiny spines is beautifully preserved across the thorax. The painstaking preparation has brought out these intricate features with impressive precision, highlighting the trilobite's complex anatomy and exceptional state of preservation.

The specimen is virtually unrestored, with less than 1% restoration, making it a particularly desirable example of this striking species.

About Trilobites

Trilobites were a very diverse group of extinct marine arthropods. They first appeared in the fossil record in the Early Cambrian (521 million years ago) and went extinct during the Permian mass extinction (250 million years ago). They were one of the most successful of the early animals on our planet: over 25,000 species have been described, filling nearly every evolutionary niche. Due in large part to their hard exoskeletons (shells), they left an excellent fossil record.
